With every new season a new trend follows. For this winter 2012/13…it’s all about brooches and large stone jewelry. When it comes to brooches, they are not just an accessory piece. They are absolutely a great way to add a bit of beauty to an outfit. A brooch can be worn in many several ways.
Ways to wear a brooch:
- In the hair
- On a coat/jacket/blazer
- On a purse
- On necklaces
- On hats
- On Scarves
Gemstones or precious stones on the other hand…are definitely in. What better way to show off you birthstone than to wear them BIG and BRIGHT. Whether it maybe an earring, necklace, ring, bracelet or band, they will most certainly make a statement where ever you go.

So, here we are again. The holidays are just around the
corner and you haven’t got a clue on what you’re going to give as gifts. Many people stress over the perfect gift for
someone. While others may take the easy way out by simply purchasing a gift
card.
SCARVES…yes, I said it…Scarves! Scarves maybe considered as an old traditional
gift, but sometimes they are the best gifts. If you live in a region where the
winter months can become quite harsh…then scarves are one thing that will come
in handy.
A scarf can definitely transform an outfit depending on the
color, pattern or style of that scarf. Because of its versatility, a scarf is a
great way to accessorize an outfit. Trust me, there a tons of different styles
of scarves that will match anyone personal sense of style.
For all my D.I.Y people…if you have basic sewing skills like
myself, stitch a nice scarf instead of buying one. Just simply head to your
local craft store and pick out a cool fabric design.
See below for photos of completed scarves I've done:

When it comes to fashion and style, there’s one thing that I
can appreciate….a man that knows fashion and style.
His name is RL and I
have known RL for many years and I always loved his sense of style. RL is a guy that believes that a bit of your
character is reflected by the way you dress.
His style encompasses four different types, which are
Classic and Glamour meets Street and Trendy.

Have you ever loved a piece of costume/fashion jewelry so
much that your heart broke when it began to tarnish? Well, for me it wasn't just “a piece”… it was several pieces. Like most people, I love budget friendly
jewelry and sometimes hate parting with them. If you have ever felt the pain that I've just
described…have no fear, I have a few tricks or tips that can help.
Listed below are tips to help prevent new jewelry from tarnishing
and also to somewhat revive already tarnished jewelry.
For new fashion jewelry:
- Try storing the jewelry in a sealed plastic bag.
- Before wearing add 1 or 2 coating of clear nail polish (any brand will do the job). This will create a seal over the metal.
- Spray a coat of Crystal clear Enamel. You can find this at your local Wal-Mart or hardware store.
For already tarnished fashion jewelry:
- Put your tarnished jewelry in a bowl with some warm water, salt and baking soda ; letting it soak for about 10 to 15 minutes. This will clean the spots off without going through the trouble of hand-polishing. Dry with a cloth or paper towel.
- Toothpaste. Yes, toothpaste…any brand will do the trick. Apply a sizeable amount to your finger tips and gently rub the toothpaste onto the jewelry. Rinse with warm water and dry with a cloth or paper towel.
- Purchasing cleaners formulated for fashion or costume jewelry.
I hope this helps!

Earlier this year I made the decision to pay my family members
a little visit. It has been almost six
years since we haven’t seen each other.
To be quite honest, I was more excited at the fact that I was going to
visit my favorite city in the world…LONDON. I have traveled to England many times
and each time I visited the country it feels as though I’m seeing it for the
first time.
I must say, that this visit was a bit different than the others. While my intentions were to spend most of my time with the majority of
my family, I ended up doing the complete opposite. I was everywhere. I took my cousin up on her offer to be tour
guide. Don’t get me wrong…from my last experiences when it came to shopping…. I
knew where all the stores were located, but what I wanted to do was a little
site seeing. I visited places like the Princess Diana Memorial, Royal Albert
Hall, Hyde Park and science museums. I had a blast!!!!
I was looking at some of my photos from that trip and
realized how much I really missed that beautiful city. I began to wonder if I
would still have this great appreciation for London if my mother had not made
the decision to give up her citizenship to relocate back to the Caribbean. I
guess I will never know…
