Winter Lips: Softer Lips During the Winter

Our lips are one of the most delicate parts on our body and can be the most driest at times. Unlike the other parts of our bodies, our lips doesn't have as many oil glands. So hydration and moisture can become a huge issue during the harsh winter months. And as winter is approaching, now is the time to take extra care of those kissable soft lips.
There are several ways that you can go about you can keep your lips healthy and moist  and get rid of those dry cracked lips.

The three most important steps to beautiful winter lips are:

1. Hydrate
Putting on a hydrating lip balm can help, but those eight glasses of water are still necessary  everyday during the winter months.

2. Moisturize
Use a lip balm that contains natural oils and butters. Adding Castor oil or Coconut oil to your lips at night may help retain moisture in your lips.

3. A smooth scrub
Using a lip exfoliant will gently scrub away any dead, flaking or dry skin on the lips. This will help create a smoother surface and also help with the absorption of moisture.

By using these three simple steps, you're lips will thank you for it!!

Fashion & Style: Mel

Introduce yourself!
My name is Mel, I currently live in Toronto, Canada. I’m a television host and blogger. I love music, California, traveling, fashion, food & surfing!

How would you describe your sense of style?
To be completely honest, my style really depends on the day and my mood. I’d say some days I’m more chic/glam and other’s it’s more urban/rock influenced. I love blending some trendy pieces with my own personal twist. I have so much picking out my daily outfits every morning!

Where do you get your inspiration for each look?
I follow a lot of designers and bloggers online, I also follow a lot of musicians via Twitter/Facebook, I love looking at street style and runway shows from not only in North America but Europe and Australia as well. I draw on all those different things plus what’s hot for the season to make up my own personal look.

What’s your ‘Go-To’ outfit for when you need to get ready in a hurry?
In the winter, it will be a skinny jean, plain tee, biker jacket, boots and a few sparkles (my rings, a few bracelets and a necklace). In the summer, it will be a cute dress and a pair of boots or sandals.

What are the three favorite things in your closet?
My current three favorite things in my closet are my new Zara biker fake leather jacket, my Anine Bing studded boots and my Springsioux poncho tee.

What are some of your favorite shops or websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
Since I travel a lot, I love shopping on Melrose in LA, on Bedford in Williamsburg, in Le Marais in Paris and Queen West in Toronto. My favorite online shops are: Zara, ASOS, Topshop and Forever 21. I also love getting designer clothes and jewellery directly from their websites!

I got 99 Problems But Acne Aint 1: Acne and Blackheads

9:45:00 AM Jem Lawren 0 Comments

The day I had left for the airport to head to London. I had forgotten to repack my facial cleansers back into my suit case. While I was in mid-air, this wonderful fact had dawned on me.  So I had no other choice but to purchase new cleansers.  At that particular time I was using Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash, Simple Soothing Facial Toner, Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15 and an acne treatment from Nuetrogena.
It was about a year ago I discovered the Simple skin Care line. I love the fact that it was really gentle on my skin and it didn't leave my skin tight or dry.  Compared to other products I have used, this line balanced my skin when it came to the feel and moisture of my skin. However, I still had the occasional acne breakouts ever so often.
Let’s fast forward to London. While I was on my way to my cousin’s house, we stopped off at a local Superdrug so I would be able to purchase new cleansers. I wasn't sure if they had carried the Simple line, but to my surprise they did….along with a couple other products that I had not seen.  I came across their Oil Balancing Cleansing Wipes with Zinc PCa, Oil Balancing Exfoliating Wash and Spotless Skin Rapid Action Spot Zapper. I must say, using these three products for the month I was in London and even now…has kept my skin spot-free. I am so in love!!!
I decided to check the US site to see if they carried the same products as the UK line, but it was just my luck that they didn't carry the Spotless Skin Rapid Action Spot Zapper. Uggghhh…not good!  I’m hoping and keeping my fingers cross that Simple Skin Care will have it in future plans to introduce more of the UK product line to the US market.
While we’re on the subject of a horrible thing called acne. For those have issues with blackheads, I have provided a recipe for more natural way to treat them.  All you would need is:
½ of a Lemon
2 to 4 drops of honey
You can either squeeze the juice from the lemon in a small bowl and add the honey or just add the honey right on top of the ½ cut lemon.  If you choose to add the honey on top of the lemon...just rub the affected area with the lemon and honey. Leave the mixture on the area for about 4 to 6 minutes and then wash it with cool water.  You should see results right away.

*Please consult your physician at all times before trying anything.

Fashion & Style: Emily

9:19:00 AM Jem Lawren 0 Comments

Introduce yourself!
My name is Emily Maree (better known as Em). I live in Galway, Ireland but grew up in London, where my fashion sense originates! I am a Journalism & New Media graduate, fashion journalist & blogger.

How would you describe your sense of style?
My sense of style is eclectic, I suppose. I take ideas from people on the street, magazines but mix it with my own personal tastes! I don’t have a particular look I go for; it depends on my mood that day! I improvise a lot with style and love to dress up when I’m on my days off! I love red lipsticks and leather jackets but I go through phases of style. At the moment I’ve got quite a preppy style and getting quite into high fashion – buying statement pieces instead of entire outfits.

Where do you get your inspiration for each look?
I’m inspired by lots of different things. People’s personal style, colours I see on the street. I recently saw a very brightly coloured house and then bought a jacket with the same colour – things like that really inspire me.

What’s your ‘Go-To’ outfit for when you need to get ready in a hurry?
I love my leather leggings and American Apparel disco pants so usually those with a nice top or blouse and a jacket. Then throw on a pair of floral Doc Martens or leather boots! It does depend on the season though because I like to play with fashion. I usually have an outfit picked out in my head before I go to bed the night before if there is somewhere I need to go.

What are the three favourite things in your closet?
My Topshop black fur gilet, a Jones & Jones floral dress and a third-hand pair of Louboutins that my best mate gave me, I’m almost scared to wear them I love them so much! But I have so many pieces I love, it’s so hard to pick!

What are some of your favorite shops or websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
I loveASOS, it’s my go to for absolutely everything! Missguided is a good one and Topshop is great online. I usually check out the clothing online before I go and buy! On the high street I love Topshop, H&M and Pull & Bear and of course, Victoria’s Secret for lingerie.

Is there a blog/webpage or YouTube channel where we can find you?
I have my blog at http://emilyfashionfiend.com and a website at http://intrigue.ie/. My Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/EmilyFashionFiend and you can catch me on https://twitter.com/emtmaree

My Adventures in London: IWM Imperial War Museum

7:32:00 AM Jem Lawren 0 Comments

Hey Everyone,
I would like to continue to share some of the places I had visited while I was in London.  One place which I found most interesting was the Imperial War Museum (IWM).  The Imperial War Museum covers the wars that involved Britain and the Commonwealth, from the First World War to the present day. It exhibited how life was during the war and how its people and many others around the world had to cope during these difficult times.
I would highly recommend that if you were ever in London to check out the IWM. Below are some photos I took, but it doesn't give the museum any justice. The experience is ten times greater once you step foot inside.

With that being said, I would like to share a couple of photos below from my experience.
