Fashion & Style: Jennifer

Introduce yourself!
Hi, my name is Jennifer. I go by Furbananas on the web which is a conjunction of my name and an adjective I use to describe myself. Fur, being short for Jennifer and Bananas because I have a very vibrant and bubbly personality. I'm from New Orleans originally but grew up in Atlanta, which is my home. I currently live in D.C. and work in retail management.
How would you describe your sense of style?
At the moment I'm going through a "I don't know how I want to dress" phase. I feel like the best style is having one that's unique and all your own that you can be identified as and I'm still figuring that out at the moment. As for now I would describe my style as tomboy chic. As much as I love looking girly in bright colors and skirts, you can usually catch my on boyfriend jeans or over-sized shirts paired with high heels.

Where do you get your inspiration for each look?
Fashion bloggers such as Karla from "Karla's Closet" and Solange Knowles, my style icon. Also, the weather and my mood plays a big factor in each look I put together.
What’s your ‘Go-To’ outfit for when you need to get ready in a hurry?
Boyfriend jeans and a T-shirt. Never fails me.

What are the three favorite things in your closet?
Of course my boyfriend jeans, a men's jean jacket from H&M and one of the many pencil skirts own. Simple things because a good wardrobe is based or should be built around the basic essentials.
What are some of your favorite shops or websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
Some favorites are Asos.com, Urbanog.com for cute inexpensive shoes, and Zara.com.

What fashion or styling tips would you give to someone who wants to improve their sense of style?
As I stated before, it's best to build your wardrobe starting with the basic essentials. A pair of good jeans, good cotton t-shirts, a great pair of trousers, a pump or sandal heel, and a good fitting pencil skirt. You'll see with those basics it'll become especially easy to start putting great looks together. From there you can start to add specific pieces that make the looks YOU.

Is there a blog/webpage or Youtube channel where we can find you?
I have a blog: furbananas.blogspot.com, an Instagram: instagram.com/furbananas and a YouTube page but I hardly make post anymore: youtube.com/fashionablyjenn

Introduce yours!
Hi, I'm Pamu
How would you describe your sense of style?
I'm a minimalist, elegant and sophisticated.
Where do you get your inspiration for each look?
Really depends on how I feel that day.

What’s your ‘Go-To’ outfit for when you need to get ready in a hurry?
A dress and a pair of heels. No hassle trying to find that matching top to go with your bottom.
What are the three favorite things in your closet?

My oversize embellished sweater, blue suede heels &my leather front tee.

What are some of your favorite shops or websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
J.Crew, Piperlime, Victoria Secrets.

What fashion or styling tips would you give to someone who wants to improve their sense of style?
Well really depends on each individual. Generally speaking don't hesitate to try and explore different styles - that's really how you learn what looks best on you. Also when in doubt go for a clean cut dress and a pair of heels.

Happy Valentine's Day 2014

1:44:00 PM Jem Lawren 0 Comments

Valentine’s Day is practically a day away. Many of you may have already have plans set in motion and others maybe a bit stumped as to what to get your significant other.

I had asked a question to my guy friends and repeated the same question to my female friends, “as to what would be the perfect gift or gesture on Valentine’s Day” and many of them stated that having "a steamy romantic night with the one they love would be the best gift or gesture".  Well, I’m not knocking that particular thought, but for those of you who had the intention of doing something a little extra…check out my post for last year’s Valentine’s Day ideas.

These ideas will never get old or stale. Some of the ideas are geared toward you really knowing the person you’re with.  And for those who are just looking for a “steamy romantic night with the one you love”…there are one or two ideas of how you can go about it in a creative way.

HAPPY   V-DAY!!!!

Fashion & Style: Larissa

Introduce yourself!
I'm Larissa, a 24 year old psychotherapist turned blogger and stylist, from Amsterdam.  I love magazines, fashion shows, accessories, photography, spotlights. From hats to heels is a blog about my personal style.

How would you describe your sense of style?
My style is versatile, but usually comes to a combination of rough rebellious x feminine chique. I’m influenced by both Paris and London, I think. I love mixing different styles in one outfit.

Where do you get your inspiration for each look?
My inspiration comes from everywhere. It could be a city, a building or a piece of art. Of course I’m also inspired by designers and other bloggers.

What’s your ‘Go-To’ outfit for when you need to get ready in a hurry?
It depends on the occasion. If it’s fancy: I would wear a high waisted skirt with a top and statement necklace with heels. If it’s something more comfortable, I would wear high waisted jeans with that same top and statement necklace, completed by comfortable heels. Either the top or skirt could be embroidered or embellished: I love adornments.

What are the three favorite things in your closet?
Right now I would say my statement necklace, my black comfortable heeled boots and my fluffy yeti coat.

What are some of your favorite shops or websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
I try not to stick to brands, but River Island, Asos and Topshop deserve my attention over and over again.

What fashion or styling tips would you give to someone who wants to improve their sense of style?
I would advise anyone to be the best of themselves and never hold back. If you like bright colors: wear them. Big earrings? Wear them! Bold prints? Try it all out! As long as it’s you, it should be fun to wear something others may think is crazy.

Is there a blog/webpage or Youtube channel where we can find you?
My blog is fromhatstoheels.com and my Youtube channel is youtube.com/fromhatstoheels . I also have Instagram and twitter: @larissabruin . Hope to see you there!

Fashion & Style: Danielle

10:20:00 AM Jem Lawren 0 Comments

Introduce yourself!
My name is Danielle and I'm the blogger behind indie.electronic.alternative. fashion/music blog.  I also model part time and work a full time job in sales.  Fashion and music have always been a passion of mine, so my blog serves as a place for me to celebrate that and funnel all my creative energy.

How would you describe your sense of style?
A little bit hippie, a little bit rock and roll, occasionally classic and generally casual.  I'm a style chameleon depending on my mood.

Where do you get your inspiration for each look?
I'm usually inspired by a single piece in my closet.  I'll find something that fits the occasion and style my entire outfit around it.

What’s your ‘Go-To’ outfit for when you need to get ready in a hurry?
Skinny jeans, ankle boots, a relaxed t shirt and a statement bag.  I usually keep the accessories to a minimum- a pair of stud earrings and a few rings usually do the trick.

What are the three favorite things in your closet?
My Alexander Wang Rockie Bucket Bag, AG Adriano Goldschmied grey skinny jeans, and my LNA crew neck t shirt.  I probably have the same shirt in about 5 different colors!

What are some of your favorite shops or websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
I eat, sleep and breath Shopbop.com.  It has everything I need by designers I love, and their sales are killer!  I also like to look for deals online at The Outnet and Free People.  I get a lot of my jewelry and basics at Urban Outfitters.  And I'm addicted to flash sale websites like Gilt.com and Hautelook.com.

What fashion or styling tips would you give to someone who wants to improve their sense of style?
Think about what type of personality you have and begin to build your style around it.  Don't try to be something you aren't.  Wear what makes you feel comfortable and don't feel the need to conform to what's "cool" now.  You can add a few diverse pieces to mix up your look while being current.  I.e. if you're preppy with an all American look, don't try to dress like a hipster if you aren't comfortable doing it.  Maybe add a cute pair of fringed boots to your classic look or throw on a glamourous statement necklace.  Stay true to yourself but try to update your style with accessories and subtle changes.  And regardless of your sense of style, you can never go wrong with having a stretchy pair of black skinny jeans, a leather (or faux) motorcycle jacket, a matte red lip, and a classically shaped statement bag.

Is there a blog/webpage or Youtube channel where we can find you?
I'm @indelectalt on Twitter and Instagram!  And you can find my style and music posts on indieelectronicalternative.com
