Fashion & Style: Banke
Introduce yourself!
Hi
readers of Culture of Venus. My name is Banke Balogun and I am the author of
the fashion blog “With Love, Banke.” With Love, Banke was created in January of
2014. I wanted to showcase my eclectic sense of style while adding witty and in
some cases, quirky commentary. Aside from running With Love, Banke I am a first
year Masters in Public Health candidate at the University of California, Los
Angeles. In my free time, I like to browse through other fashion blogs, watch
Korean dramas and listen to music.
How would you describe your sense of style?
Eclectic.
I’m all over the place as a result of this, many people have found it very difficult to pinpoint my exact style--it’s constantly changing! On my blog you’ll see me emulate many different styles.
Where do you get your inspiration for each
look?
I
get my inspiration from many different places. It could be from watching a t.v.
show, to seeing an outfit I really like on Instagram or just my personal mood.
As of late, I’ve been trying to find within myself more inspirations so I’ve
opted out from skimming on a lot of fashion bloggers pages and looking at
magazines.
Are there any celebrities/fashion icons whose
style you admire?
Rihanna: Amazing sense of style. She could wear a trash bag
and still look amazing.
Bebe Zeva: A recognized blogger who I believe should gain
more recognition. Not only can this girl write killer commentary, but her style
is to die for. She’s never scared to try anything new and she has a lot of
confidence.
What’s your ‘Go-To’ outfit for when you need
to get ready in a hurry?
I
would say I always throw on a pair of high waisted jeans, a crop top and some
converse or my Peter Pilotto for Target slip on sneakers.
What are the three favorite things in your
closet?
1.
My ASOS platform
shoes
2.
My H&M wide brim
hat
3.
My American Apparel
Silver Disco Pants
If you had the option of replacing all items
in your closet with items from a particular designer. Who would that be?
Ted
Baker! Whenever I go to that store, I’m like a kid in a candy shop. I love
everything in their store from their clothing to their bags.
What are some of your favorite shops or
websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
For
online shopping it would be ASOS, Urban Outfitters and Topshop. For in-person
shopping it’s Forever 21, Zara, H&M, Buffalo Exchange and thrift stores.
What fashion or styling tips would you give
to someone who wants to improve their sense of style?
Try
something that’s never been done before and be true to yourself. Fashion is
about having fun!
