Product Review: Comfortability with Sole Patches

12:15:00 PM Jem Lawren 1 Comments

Hey Luvs!

Happy Holidays! Today I wanted to share with you my thoughts about a product called Sole Patches. Last week Sole Patches sent me a box of flower shaped cushiony pads that aids in the comfort of wearing uncomfortable shoes. I was eager to try these because my 9 to 5 requires me to be on the road seeing clients and sometimes being in heels all day can be quite painful! I was also happy to try this product because we are in the festive season and during this time I’m usually attending a holiday party wearing a pair of heels that are at least 3”.

About the Product:

Sole Patches are a thin cushioned patch that sticks onto the ball of your foot. The cushioning is made of Poron by Rogers Corporation, a special material that's shock-absorbing, antimicrobial, anti-odor, and has moisture-repelling properties, making it a perfect solution to avoiding having sore feet at the end of the day in uncomfortable shoes!

How to use:

Make sure that your feet are clean and dry

Flex each foot. This will ensure that the pads will stick to optimal surface area

Remove adhesive backing from Sole Patches and apply

Aim for the balls of your feet or wherever you finds most painful or soreness

*** For permanent fixation…apply to your shoe***

I tested Sole Patches for about a week wearing a new pair of heels. The pads were thin enough to slide your foot into your shoes, but thick enough to notice the extra padding. I placed the patch on my feet; I wanted to concentrate on the balls of my feet because this is the area which tends to be most painful when wearing new heels.

I must say, Sole Patches were comfortable and they helped adsorb some of the shock from all the walking I did during the day. The patches were so comfortable, that I was able to wear my heels a few hours longer than normal. I love the fact that I can use a pair of patches a few times before they are discarded.

Overall I think that this product should definitely be a staple product for those who wear a lot of shoes that put a lot of stress on the feet. I know on New Year’s Eve I will not be leaving the house without my Sole Patches.

Boutique & Beauty Bar: Recipe for a Unique Shopping Experience

There’s always a risk when you create something new. Will people like it? Will it succeed? Will it be worth it?

When Madonna and Co. re-launched in Mid-town East Side, (bordering on the Upper-East Side) from our former location in Soho, we emerged as a different entity, incorporating what made us great in the past, but with new additions. We were more.

In addition to our new location on 60th street, we opened a full service salon and beauty bar within the store, bringing to a life a completely unique shopping experience.

Fashion and Beauty: An Innovative Convergence

The inclusion of the beauty bar inside our boutique converged the worlds of fashion and beauty in a way that’s never been done. For the first time, women have the opportunity to receive comprehensive beautification in a one-stop shop.

Bringing together fashion and beauty as we have done was not without risk, but innovation always involves a leap of faith. New creations don’t arise from the ether. Innovation comes as the result of unique combinations, whether it be a boutique and a beauty bar, our designs and exclusive designer capsule collections, or glam and chic, etc. Creating one-of-a-kind experiences from unique combinations is what Madonna & Co. has always done.

Our willingness to break barriers and defy categorization is what makes our selection of fashion and accessories so vibrant and original. All of the clothing in our store has been designed and hand picked from collections around the world. By dealing with the designer themselves and direct with our factories, we are able to offer luxury items at affordable prices.

The vast selection of unique affordable clothing featured in our shop is what makes us the best NYC boutique operating today. By shopping at Madonna & Co., you receive the peace of mind in knowing that you’ll never cross paths with someone wearing the same outfit; one-of-a-kind, wearable and affordable clothes for independent woman is what we do.

Community of Independent Women

While the ability to get a full-service haircut, styling, and complete makeup treatment in the same place where you find all of your exclusive designs and luxury clothing is extremely convenient, the impetus behind opening the beauty bar had more to do with community than convenience.

We wanted to create a space where independent women from all walks of life and ages could come together to shop, socialize, and express their femininity. We imagined a world where the social aspects of a salon coalesced with the activity of shopping. Our love of fashion and beauty led us to invent a world that unites these spheres and offers women a place to have fun and engage in a dialogue about fashion and style.

At Madonna & Co. we believe in creating a personal style. We see it as our job to assist women in crafting their own individual aesthetic. Every woman that walks through our doors is a unique assemblage of beliefs, values, and traits. Her aesthetic preferences are a function of her entire worldview and identity.

Creating the perfect outfit involves a translation of sorts. Our aim is to help the women who shops in our store translate their core identity into an aesthetic that embodies and represents who they really are and how they feel. Every woman who comes into our store receives a unique treatment that results in a unique style – whether her preferences lean towards glam, chic, posh, or edgy.

The beauty bar allows us to take the crafting of a unique style one step further. In addition to helping women find their dream new fashions, our stylists bring years of experience and knowledge to the table, assisting women realize their dream hairstyle!

We offer every customer a free consultation at the salon and beauty bar before her first appointment. This consultation gives us the chance to learn about what the specific customer likes about her hair or makeup styling and what she’d like to change. Our stylists and make-up artists will then present some possible ways to enhance the aspects of her appearance that the customer would like to shake up.

While our head stylist is an expert in all types of hair, her specialty is curly hair and we call her "The Curly Hair Expert." Our custom line of No Frizz Miracle Gel – designed specifically for curly hair – mirrors this focus.

Hartford Fashion Week 2016 Recap

7:30:00 AM Jem Lawren 0 Comments

Hey Luvs!

This post is long overdue! But! If you were in Hartford, CT a couple of weekends ago, I’m pretty sure that Hartford Fashion Week was the most talked about event. That particular weekend, I had an amazing three days of attending events, viewing fabulous shows and enjoying the company of friends and potential collaborators.

Hartford Fashion Week started on October 13th with the VIP Preview. This event allowed VIP ticket holders and press to get a sneak peak runway show that showcased one piece from each HFW designer.

Nights two and three were the runway shows that took place in the hall of Union Station on October 14th and 15th. As each designer displayed the pieces from their line, there were essences of grunge, sexiness, sophistication and a bit of fairy tale inspiration. Every piece of clothing had a story and every designer creatively exhibit their version of a wearable masterpiece.

Night two showcased designs from designers such as Troy Anthony, Theos of Hartford, Crinkled Chiffon, ShirleyMarie and Saints by S.J.

The third night, the Saturday Runway show presented designs from Faschinn, Zoe Ilana Grinfled, La Moo Designs, EKBallroom and Mathew Reisman

Between the designers, styles and attendees....these past two nights were spectacular! If I had to pick my top 4 favorite designers for night 1&2 it would be.. La Moo, Faschinn, Saints by S.J. and Mathew Reisman!

DIY Aromatherapy Room Spray with Anjou Top 6 Essential Oils

7:15:00 AM Jem Lawren 11 Comments

Hey Luvs!

Last weekend was such a blast, but a bit stressful as well. I had attended three nights of  Hartford Fashion Week and did a lot of running around to find the perfect outfit for the events, making sure I had all of the backup batteries for my camera, confirming that I had enough business cards to take with me, all while trying to make these events on time after leaving my 9 to 5 job. After viewing the last fashion show.....I was exhausted, I was ready for some downtime.

Luckily, over the weekend I received a 6 bottle kit of Anjou 100% Pure Essential Oils. I really wanted to experience a day of calming and relaxation. I felt that siting in an aromatherapy room and curling up with a good book would be best…. So I decided to make an aromatherapy room spray.

Here are some facts about Essential Oils:

Essential Oils are the oils that are extracted from flowers, plant roots, leaves, peels, bark or stems. This oil is the most potent form of the plant or flower. Essential oils can be used in multiply ways and can be beneficial to one’s physical and emotional health. Some benefits of essential oils are that they can either be anti-inflammatory, an antioxidant or antibacterial.

Within the 6 bottle kit I received (1)10ml bottle that listed the country of origin:

Lavender – South Africa

Lemongrass- India

Peppermint - Japan

Eucalyptus- China

Tea Tree- Australia

Sweet Orange- Canada

I knew I wanted to experience the scent of Peppermint, Lavender with a bit of citrus. Below are the instructions on how I made my aromatherapy room spray.

What you will need:

(1) 4oz dark glass spray bottle

Essential oils: Peppermint, Lavender and Sweet Orange

2 oz of Distill water or vodka or witch hazel (I went with distill water and witch hazel)

I made sure that the glass bottle is clean before I poured in 2oz of distill water and 1 oz of witch hazel. For each essential oil...I dropped about 5-6 drops. I then tightened the top and shook all the ingredients for a 30 seconds...and wallah! We have an aromatherapy room spray!

Anjou Top 6 Essential Oil set is truly wonderful. I love the scents of all the oils, but my most favorite oils are Eucalyptus, Peppermint and Lavender. The fact that they are natural, is a major plus for me as well. This set is makes a perfect gift for someone. The package is quite nice…the six oils comes in a super sleek black box that resembles a drawer.

I am 100% recommending Anjou Top 6 Essential Oils!! As stated before there are multiply ways these oils can be used.

My Grand Prairie Wayfarer| Glasses Shop Review

5:13:00 PM Jem Lawren 0 Comments

A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by and they wanted to know if I would be interested in trying out a pair of glasses from their website. I was super excited about this opportunity...for I was in need of a new pair of stylish glasses... so I haply excepted. focuses on online eyeglasses and sunglasses. Their prescription sunglasses and eyeglasses frames come with a 90-day quality guarantee. deliver superior eyeglasses at an unbeatably-low price.

I love wearing glasses. There are so many shapes, sizes, styles, colors and brands one can choose from. I feel that eyeglasses sometimes are the missing piece to an outfit. If you're like me...your glasses mostly likely will turn into an accessory.
When it comes to prescription, I do however own a pair of low prescription glasses. I normally don't wear them because I use these glasses "as needed"...especially on days where my eyes may become a bit tired from spending hours on my computer.

When choosing glasses frames, I normally tend to gravitate to eye wear that are black and has a classic look or feel. This time, I really wanted to own a pair of eyeglasses frames that were colorful or had a bit of color in them. The glasses frames I chose were Grand Prairie Wayfarer in the color purple.

Navigating through the site was super easy. If you are unsure of how the frames would look on your face, GlassShop has a "try-on" feature which allows you to select a gender and face shape to view how the glasses would fit. After you select your frames you will then provide any RX and PD(pupillary distance) if prescription lenses are needed. The eyeglasses arrived fairly quickly and well packaged. The frames were enclosed in a plastic compact case along with a microfiber cloth.

I love my purple Grand Prairie Wayfarer glasses!! They are lightweight, fashionable, classy but most of all affordable! If you would to get yourself pair of new glasses, use the the coupon code GSHOT50 and you'll get 50% off on eyeglasses and sunglasses with free lenses(sale frames excluded).

The Salvation Army Redemption Fashion Show Recap

6:13:00 PM Jem Lawren 0 Comments

Hey Luvs,

Last Saturday I was given a wonderful opportunity to cover the debut of The Salvation Army of CT's first Redemption Fashion Show.

"The Redemption Fashion Show introduced The Salvation Army's REDEEMED brand. The REDEEMED brand is the hope, imagination and love expressed in infinite possibilities by practitioners of these eternal qualities."

This fashion show allowed local designer to turn clothing that were once considered old into something new, exciting, but most of all trendy! Local designers such as Bertha Angelo, Fachinn, Marion Imbruglio, Couture France, Catherine Henry, Stacy Lawes and Vilinda McGregor grace the runway with their own uniqueness and style.

The designs were definitely impressive....the designs were "thrifty chic". As each model strut down the runway, I noticed that these designers had truly put in thought and effort into what is known as an "eco-couture" design.
The show in itself was amazing. It ran smoothly and most of all, it was well thought out.
To find out more about the REDEEMED brand or to stay in the know about The Salvation Army of CT, you can simply head over to their Facebook page at Redemption Fashion Show .
