Hi Guys,

Spring 2016 is here! Like many of us, we are gearing up to try and achieve that beach body.... and for the sleeveless season we call Summer. From ruffled tube tops, to maxi dresses and tank tops… the one thing we will all have in common is that our armpits will be exposed. And if your underarm area is a bit darker than the rest of your body…. then you are not alone. You can easily get rid of dark underarms by using simple home remedies that are affordable, natural, safe, and effective.

Below I have listed some of the main causes of dark armpits.

  1. Dead skins build up
  2. Friction on the skin due to shaving
  3. The chemicals from our deodorant
  4. Medical Conditions

Here are a few natural remedies that can help to lighten the area:

    Potato

Potato has mild acidic properties that act as great natural bleaching agent. Due to its mild acidic nature, it can be applied on sensitive skin. All you would need to do is:

Gently rub a thin slice of potato on you underarms for about 5-10 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water. You can also grate a potato and squeeze out its juice. Apply the juice over the underarms / armpits, using your fingers or a cotton pad. Let it sit there and dry for about 10-15 minutes, and then wash it off with lukewarm water.

    Baking Soda

Mix baking soda with lukewarm water to form a thick paste. Baking Soda is a great homemade exfoliating scrub that can aid in lightening your dark underarms by removing the dead skin cells.

    Vinegar

This remedy has strong anti-bacterial properties. This remedy works to lighten the skin tone and help get rid of bacteria and germs that feed on dead skin cells. Apple Cider Vinegar would be my personal choice when choosing a type of vinegar. Simply apply it to a cotton pad and wipe about 3 times, but letting it dry between each wipes.

    Honey

Honey is also known for its anti-bacterial properties. Simply apply a small amount of honey and spread it onto the skin. Allow the honey dries out before rinsing it off with warm water. To add a bit of UMPH to this remedy…you can squeeze a slice of lemon to the honey and apply the mixture to you underarms and let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse.

Applying either of these home remedies twice a day may give you a quicker result in lightening you skin under your arms. .

Please, like with anything else…. Best practice is to consult your doctor before trying anything new.
